Dr. Melder obtained his Sc.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh, subsequently completing post-doctoral work in Pathology/Oncology and later Chemical/Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Melder was appointed to faculty of the Harvard Medical School and was a House Officer at the Massachusetts General Hospital. During this time he lectured and trained graduate and undergraduate students in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences Technology Program. Dr. Melder departed Harvard to join Human Genome Sciences in Rockville, Maryland where he lead product development efforts in the oncology and vascular biology areas. Dr. Melder is currently a Senior R&D Director and Bakken Fellow at Medtronic PLC in Santa Rosa, California, where he leads a group providing scientific and development support for Medtronic's Cardiac and Vascular Group.
